Private Practice in Santa Cruz, California

Lucie established her private practice in Santa Cruz, California in 1997. On the heels of her work in Youth Services,  her clientele consisted of mostly teens in the early years of her practice. Today, it has expanded to include men, women, and couples seeking therapy for a range of issues including depression, trauma, relationship improvements, self reflection, and lifestyle improvements. In most recent years, men have made up the fastest growing segment due to work stress and economic changes.

Approach

Lucie’s approach is to meet people and help them feel safe in the context of a therapeutic relationship that honors gifts and strengths, as well as challenges.  “I believe that we are born with a healthy core and sometimes need help to release layers of accumulated emotional pain and behavioral dysfunction,” says Lucie. “Stories or interpretations of foundational experiences need to be accessed and re-imagined, allowing what’s stuck to gain freedom of movement.”

I think my clients sense that I experience them as essentially healthy, which reinforces the courage required  to explore what doesn’t work or feel good.  If there is one “skill” I most value, it is my natural capacity to appreciate the healthy life force that resides in all people.

While Lucie borrows skills and knowledge from a variety of theories and modalities,  her general approach comes from the foundation of East West psychology and it’s infusion into offshoots including:

  • Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR)
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

Learning to explore, tolerate, and accept that which is painful leads to transformation allowing people to embrace new skills and experience more human radiance.
